ADAC Cyclassics 2026 start once again in Buxtehude
March 26 th 2026 - 11:14
The ADAC Cyclassics will return to Buxtehude for their start on 16 August 2026. Following the successful premiere last year, the UCI WorldTour one-day race will once again get underway in the Lower Saxon Hanseatic city, before the peloton embarks on the approximately 200-kilometre route through the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.
Successful debut to be continued
By choosing to award the start to Buxtehude once again, organiser A.S.O. Germany is building on the positive response from the previous year. In 2025, the town in the Stade district served as the official start location for the first time and impressed with its exceptional atmosphere.
Route with familiar challenges
In 2026, Buxtehude will once again be the meeting point for professionals, teams and cycling fans from across Germany. The neutralised start will take the peloton through the town centre before the race picks up speed towards Hamburg through the Stade and Harburg districts. The route continues to feature fast sections, potential crosswind situations on open terrain, and a demanding finale with five crossings of the Waseberg in total. Alongside the racing action, an attractive supporting programme will once again be on offer in Buxtehude — with race day coinciding with the traditional wine festival.
Cycling meets city festival atmosphere
Mayor Katja Oldenburg-Schmidt said: "Buxtehude is a sports city, which is why I am delighted that Germany's biggest one-day race is starting with us for the second year in a row. Last year showed what a special atmosphere is created when professionals, fans and many enthusiastic spectators come together here in Buxtehude. We are very happy to build on that success."
Hendrik Heinz, Head of ADAC Cyclassics, added: "The start in Buxtehude brought fresh momentum last year. The enthusiasm along the route, the close cooperation with the city and the strong spectator turnout convinced us. It was therefore a natural decision to continue this successful opening together with the city of Buxtehude."
About the ADAC Cyclassics
The ADAC Cyclassics rank among the most prestigious one-day races in international cycling. Since their debut, they have established themselves as a permanent fixture on the UCI race calendar, attracting a top-class field of riders and hundreds of thousands of spectators each year. The combination of an urban finale in Hamburg, fast sections through the metropolitan region and potentially selective passages makes the race particularly appealing to classics specialists and sprinters alike.
The ADAC Cyclassics 2026 will take place on 16 August. Further information on the route, the start list and the supporting programme will be announced in the coming weeks.
